We went over the Competencies and addressed the activities I planned. Dr. De La Torre, Cynthia Lopez, Asst. Superintendent, Nora Paugh, El Dorado HS Principal, and Dr. Creel all gave positive feedback for the areas covered and the activities. Dr. De La Torre particularly wanted me to take a look at the AP scores and investigate causes for less than expected scores and suggested that be added to the plan. Ms. Lopez suggested looking further into the theory behind Instructional Rounds. Mrs. Paugh also suggested an analysis of DAEP problems particularly with a shortage of personnel to make sure senior students in particular could get credit for elective courses required for graduation. She also suggested doing some brainstorming with Cynthia Luna with the Master Schedule considering EOC and how that will effect students who pass courses, but do not pass the EOC and do not receive credit. Dr. Creel also suggested learning more about NIMS standards and observing whether they have been implemented by the district, as well as some clarifying questions.
Dr. De La Torre suggested I work with the Assistant Superintendents in their various areas and notified them at a cabinet meeting they had his permission to give me access to projects they are working on. He liked the community relations ideas with strengthening our program with training videos and working with the Partners in Education program to make it more consistent for all the individual campuses. He agreed that I needed to build my skills in facilities management and budgeting/allocating resources.
